3 Ubers, 1 bus, 2 trains and 3 flights

This is all for my friend Pearl. I have been a mess of anticipation over my dear friend Pearl's wedding. I have been so excited for her and Peyton, however I happen to be thousands and thousands of miles from the location of said wedding. So this is the story of my journey to Pearl's wedding. It starts with an Uber. Nothing super eventful about this Uber except I thought we were going to die for the driver was speeding excessively given we live in the mountains. But we persisted don't you worry. It was then time for mode of transport number 2: a bus. San Isidro de El General to San Jose. Okay divas lock-in.  I had to say goodbye to my homegirl (I miss her dearly and it's only been 10 hours since I left). This was a 3 hour bus ride turned 5 hours but I already knew that was going to happen because the traffic here is so terrible, so I was prepared. All I did was read my book and text my ex-girlfriend! Complete. Nailing it so far. I then had to walk 25 minutes to get to my hostel for the night. Oh this is about a three day journey so that's the end of Day 1!

Day 2 starts with a lovely tanning session and cup of coffee at my hostel. My flight wasn't until 2pm so I got to have a slow morning. I left the hostel and took an uber to the airport. All was well at SJO, I got through security easily and got to hangout and wait for my flight. My first flight was to Miami. Once I got to Miami I had a couple hour layover and next flight I was onto Charlotte. I had an overnight layover in Charlotte that I was not looking forward to. We landed about 12:30am. My flight in the morning was not until 10am to Philadelphia. So naturally I got zero sleep and did some stretching and walking around the airport. I watched a show on my laptop and waited for Einstein Bros bagels to open where I got a shit ass bagel and cold brew for $20. Right. Awesome.

Now it's Day 3 but really it's just the never ending day because I haven't slept. Somehow boarding started and I got on my flight to Philly baby. This was a short flight. I landed about 11:45 but I was nervous because I had an Amtrak ticket for 1:30pm and I had to get from the airport to William & 30th station downtown and potentially change to look presentable for I was going right to Pearl's house for her welcome party. Not to mention I also had to get through immigration (insert eyeroll here). So I bust ass to get through and get to the train platform to get into downtown Philly to make my other train to get to Downingtown. Somehow I get there with about 20 minutes till my train. At this point I look a mess. I'm definitely smelly and I was a little dirty from all this public transportation. So in the station bathroom I did a quick makeover threw some jeans on and called it good. I even washed my face and put on a little makeup. Wow I was impressed. Then my train arrived and I had about a 30 minute train ride to Pearl's home station. Once I arrived I took my final mode of transportation (till I have to go back to Costa Rica in 3 days) another Uber. Now my king Mamadou got me and took me right to Pearl's house where I was un-showered and had been awake for about 30 hours at this point.

Walking up Pearl's front step with two giant backpacks was so surreal. I have been in Central America for a few months so the culture shock mixed with the 3 days of travel really had me at my best as you can imagine. But seriously guys, ANYTHING for Pearl. Seriously, anything. So I successfully made it and had just an amazing time seeing Pearl and Peyton and getting to attend their wedding. It was a magical weekend and I wouldn't do it differently. Somehow every bus, train, plane, and uber was timely by some miracle and I had no delays. I was very impressed. In conclusion, I love Pearl and Peyton and the lesson is go out of your way for your friends.
